Legacy Giving Overview
A desire to leave a legacy to those we love is a fundamental part of the human experience. Leaving a legacy gift makes a profound impact on the lives and organizations we care about and provides an opportunity to pass on something of ourselves to those who follow in our footsteps. When we make a gift in this way, it inspires our work and strengthens our community.
Making a bequest to HAI Global can be as simple as altering your will or changing the beneficiary on your IRA or insurance policy. Gifts of all sizes are deeply appreciated. Charitable giving as a part of estate planning was once considered a tool of only the financially elite. These days people from every walk of life are leaving bequests. Even a modest gift can make a difference.
Please consider including language in your will or trust specifying that a gift be made to HAI Global. Bequests can be made in several ways:
- Gift of a percentage of your estate
- Gift of a specific asset
- Gift of the residue of your estate
What Your Bequest Can Do
- Enable HAI Global to establish an endowment fund that will allow this work to expand worldwide
- Make HAI Workshops more accessible to a wider and more diverse audience
- Enhance training programs facilitators, presenters and others
- Provide economic resilience to weather inevitable downturns and unpredictable disasters

Types of Bequests
Will or Trust: A charitable bequest can be written into a will or trust directing a gift to be made to a HAI Global upon your death.
Financial Accounts: Most financial accounts can pass outside of a will or trust. In this case, you simply need to designate HAI Global as name a beneficiary.
Pre-tax Retirement Accounts, like an IRA, 401(k), or Pension: These accounts make an excellent bequest to HAI Global because they transfer at full value, tax-free, at your death and your estate receives a charitable deduction.
Insurance Policy: You may designate HAI Global as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Real Estate: Reassign your title in real property, naming HAI Global as a joint tenant.
