Val Hammel brings her huge heart and fiery Puerto Rican-Cuban roots to serve the thriving and diversity of the HAI community. Her life-changing love affair with this work began 25 years ago with her own profound personal transformation. Her HAI immersion spans over 150 workshops, has deep roots in 3 HAI communities (Michigan, East Coast, California) and includes over 2 decades of serving on team and leading presentations for HAI, and co-producing the first HAI workshop in Spain.
Val calls on her broad background of emotional, spiritual and transformational growth in her work with couples as a communication and relationship coach and mediator. She also supports individuals in understanding and healing from psychological and emotional abuse. She’s passionate about teaching character discernment, luminous listening, emotional attunement, non-defensiveness and healthy relationship skills. Her varied history includes life as a mountain-climbing deep tissue massage therapist, and creating published new law as a self-represented party.
Currently, Val lives on a houseboat in Oakland, and loves activism, social justice, intentional community, healthy eating, yoga, singing, dancing and courageous truth-telling conversations. Her deepest values include kindness, caring for the planet and all the beings that live on it, and creating a world where everyone wins.
