Laura Machida: In 2006, the year of my first born son’s graduation from high school, I attended my first HAI workshop. I had explored other personal growth avenues – Gestalt, Pathwork, Bioenergetics and Core Energetics, CO counseling, Polarity, TBS, New Culture, Burning events and more. While valuing deep lower self or shadow work I found HAI and higher self exploration uplifting , growth full and fun. I also love the sex positive practices. Caring, consent, confidentiality and choice are very important to me and HAI is a community that enhances and strives to abide by these values.
While teaching music in Ann Arbor public schools for 38 years I have had the privilege of loving and fostering child development – human development. I have also had roles in mentoring, and lead teacher training for over 40 student teachers, working with students ages 2-18 with all abilities. I love helping people of all ages learn and grow. I have also had the honor of working with the University Musical Society (University of Michigan) for over 30 years and received much honor and recognition. I have been a Massage Therapist and teacher for over 40 years and have served on the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) State Board and I love healing with massage. HAI has helped me to heal childhood hurts and reprogram sexual shame and attitudes. I am so much better with my Yes and No’s. Helping others is a natural flow for me.
I hope to give to HAI Midwest my best in my commitment to honesty, integrity and community. I have grown so much and hope to assist others in their growth through the experiences HAI offers. I truly believe that the best is yet to come and I want to be here as we help each of us find our voice and be empowered to embrace life fully.
